We are disappointed to share that we have cancelled the performance of “The Muse and the Poet” on March 20, 2020, in response to COVID-19. While we recognize that the risk remains low in Canada, we felt that this decision was important to support our community and align with the direction given by Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health to limit gatherings of over 250 people.

In light of the current circumstances, we are committed to providing the utmost flexibility for our patrons who have tickets for our concert on March 20, 2020:

  • Donate your tickets for an income tax receipt. The impact of the COVID-19 crisis on the charitable arts organizations like the KSO is tremendous. Your support during this challenging time is more important than ever.
  • Exchange your tickets to an upcoming performance during the 2019.2020 season (May 8 or June 26 at Richmond Hill Centre; June 6 at Cornell Recital Hall or June 27 at CBC Glenn Gould Studio). All exchange fees will be waived. As we anticipate our spring concerts to proceed as planned, we encourage our patrons to keep their tickets they may have already purchased.
  • Receive a gift certificate for the full value of your tickets, including service charges. Gift certificates may be used to purchase tickets to any KSO concert.

Ticket holders are invited to contact the KSO Office via email at GM@KSOrchestra.ca with their requests. A representative will follow up a soon as possible. Please note that you may experience longer than usual wait times, but rest assured that we will respond to every inquiry.

We have rescheduled the performance of Bartók’s Concerto for orchestra and Saint-Saëns’ La muse et le poète from March 20 to May 8, 2020. Tchaikovsky’s Capriccio Italien and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 15 that had previously been programmed for May 8, 2020 will be presented during our 2021.2022 concert season.

This pandemic may cause people to feel distressed, and music can certainly have a significant role in increasing one’s sense of well-being during difficult times. While we are currently unable to provide our patrons with live orchestra experience, we encourage them to find comfort and joy in listening to classical music.

We would like to thank our community - subscribers, donors, patrons, musicians, artistic collaborators, and staff - for their support and commitment to keeping people safe and healthy. We look forward to seeing you soon.
