Maestro Kristian Alexander opens the concert season with Mendelssohn’s most famous “Italian” symphony. Internationally renowned pianist Christina Petrowska-Quilico performs the evergreen dazzling concerto for piano and orchestra by the Norwegian composer Edward Grieg. An evening of all-romantic favourites not to be missed!

Rossini’s sparkling Overture to Cinderella’s timeless story illuminates the stage for one of the most beloved cornerstones of the repertoire, Tchaikovsky’s virtuosic Violin Concerto, performed to a great acclaim by Crystal Ye. Prokofiev’s effervescent Symphony No. 1 and Bizet’s teasing “L’amour est un oiseau rebelle”, sung by soprano Helena Holl, complete a romantic evening of passion and love.

Mozart’s famous Symphony No. 25 that combines a classical form with flamboyant expression is paired with Haydn’s virtuosic trumpet concerto performed by Jonas Feldman. Maestro Kristian Alexander has framed these beautiful jewels of the Viennese style with Beethoven’s powerful and expressive Egmont Overture and Honegger’s placid symphonic poem Pastoral d’été.

The Kindred Spirits Orchestra performs compositions by Stravinsky, Bartok, Richard Strauss, Honegger, and Brian Current. Internationally renowned pianist Christina Petrowska-Quilico plays compositions by the celebrated Canadian composer Ann Southam. Listen to enlightening discussions that stimulate and entertain. Share a glass of Champagne with the musicians after the concert in celebration of the beginning of the spring.
