2023 | 2024 Concert Season

Welcome to the Kindred Spirits Orchestra 2023-2024 Concert season! Under the direction of Maestro Kristian Alexander, the Kindred Spirits Orchestra is thrilled to present a 9-concert series in the cities of Toronto and Markham. Our opening night gala will be on October 21, 2023 at the Flato Markham Theatre, where we will also perform in December 2023 and February 2024. Then, in March, May and June 2024, we will present our new concert series “3 at the Meridian” in Toronto’s premium Meridian Arts Centre (George Weston Recital Hall). In April 2024, we will co-present the 13th annual Markham Contemporary Music Festival at Cornell Recital Hall. In June 2024, we will conclude our season with a concert at the CBC Glenn Gould Studio, and on July 1, 2024 we will present our traditional Canada Day celebration at the Unionville Millennium Theatre.

Highlights of the season include Tchaikovsky‘s Symphony No. 5Rimsky-Korsakov‘s ScheherazadeShostakovich‘s Symphony No. 8, Bizet‘s Symphony in C, Bruckner‘s Symphony No. 3, and Honegger‘s Symphony No. 3 “Liturgique”.

Maestro 6

Our concert season opening will mark the 110th birthday of one of the major Polish composers of the 20th century—Witold Lutosławsky with pianist Christina Petrowska Quilico as the featured soloist in Lutosławsky’s Concerto for piano and orchestra. In December, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra Concertmaster Jonathan Crow will present Bartók’s Violin Concerto No. 2. Later in the season, internationally renowned Spanish pianist Ludmil Angelov will offer his lauded interpretation of Chopin’s Piano concerto No. 2. Daniel Vnukowski will present the Symphonic Variations for piano and orchestra by the French composer César Franck and Li Wang will bring the West and the East together in the Piano concerto “Yellow River” by Xian Xinghai.

Yes, you can exchange your concert subscription choices at any time up to 24 hours prior to the concert to another available option.

If you could not make it to a particular concert, you can donate your ticket back to the KSO for an income tax donation receipt.
